Microsoft inserts daily polls into their website. There are questions about cars, food, politics, movies, investments, etc. An exercise poll posted this week (May 2024): "Which of the following describes your fitness investment(s)?"
Ask yourself, where do I fit into these numbers and is that where I want to be?
According to the CDC, 46.9% of US adults meet the guidelines for aerobic physical activity, and 31.0% meet the guidelines for muscle-strengthening activity. 24.2% of adults meet the guidelines for both aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity, while 22.7% meet only the guidelines for aerobic activity, and 6.8% meet only the guidelines for muscle-strengthening activity.
The most likely adults to meet both guidelines are those living in the West, at 28.5%. The least likely are those living in the South, at 22%.
Nearly 80,000 people answered these questions on MSN. There is no way to know the age, gender, or location of the people that chose to answer the questions (or if they reflect the true activities of the respondent.) By these numbers, less than 1/2 of adults get the recommended amount of physical activity. Nobody will ever accuse an online poll as scientific, but the numbers are interesting, nevertheless.

Based on 79,741 responses. Snapshot of real-time results, May 14, 2024.
Recent responses (2022 CDC survey) reveal that 25 percent of Americans don't do any exercise outside of any work activity. A poor diet and inactivity can set people up for medical conditions, such as weak immune function, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and certain cancers, the CDC notes. So, where do you stand?
