Be Calm and Carry On


Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present, aware of where you are and what you're doing, without being overly reactive to what is happening around you. It is the ability to "be calm and carry on."


The new normal, as I have heard the present global situation called, has divided us in a way that I don't remember observing to this degree in the past.


I'm in favor of passion for a cause as a driving force in life. Enthusiasm for a cause makes sense to me. What I am amazed to see is hysterical, angry, unhappy individuals that appear to have a passion for being hysterical, angry and unhappy. There is no interest in improving the world. That's perplexing.


The world is full of wrongs that need to be made right. There are causes that deserve attention and require the passion of many to correct. Then there are created wrongs, minuscule events, for what I call the cause of the followers. The followers didn't even know that they were insulted, wronged or oppressed until someone told them that this was their current condition. And then hysteria begins. They become toxic people and toxic is not healthy for them or for anyone around them. How is this related to mindfulness?


Mindfulness gives us the opportunity to pause and observe the moment. It's calming. I would never recommend it as the only way to live. It's something to explore, to be taken under consideration. It doesn't require that you be a follower, it allows you to be yourself. Or not. It's not for everybody. The followers of hysteria are the people that tend to scream in your face, avoid common sense, and defend obvious untruths. That is their choice. For the mindful, we will keep calm and carry on. For those that do not practice mindfulness, they will also carry on. The toxic population will do what they do, the rest will observe it, and should it be dangerous, the passionate among us will work to right the wrong.


Again, mindfulness is the ability to be fully present, aware of where you are and what you're doing, without being overly reactive to what is happening around you. It is the ability to be calm and carry on.
