Health Resources? They are Changing.

ree

Anyone that follows this site is here for a reason. You are interested in Tai Chi, a healthy diet, nature, yoga, or travel. Perhaps you want to learn more about the commonalities between different world religions. Many pages and blog posts on this site recommend that each person, in their best interest, should consult with a health care professional before starting an exercise program or making a change to their diet. That advice still holds because this blogger is not a health care professional or dietician and it is common sense advice. This site isn't selling pills, shots or cures. We strive to find the best resources for the reader to investigate and then discuss with their trusted health care provider.

But now medicine is getting complicated, beyond insurance and rising costs. It is not my intention to recommend one source over another especially since the sources have reached different conclusions in several areas of research. Instead I would like to provide you with as many resources as possible based on your location if you are in the United States. Some of the states are no longer using the traditional federal agencies for all guidelines and they are passing laws in concert with their sources. Unless you are a news hound, you may be unaware of the medical resources used where you live! Understanding how your state is approaching medicine is in your best interest. Here is an overview.

No U.S. states have formally created permanent medical advisory systems that operate completely separate from the CDC. However, in 2025, several states and independent medical organizations began exploring parallel or “shadow” advisory systems to maintain what they consider trusted guidance outside of the CDC’s recently altered structure.

🌊 The West Coast Health Alliance

• Founding States: California (Gov. Gavin Newsom), Oregon (Gov. Tina Kotek), and Washington (Gov. Bob Ferguson).

• Launch Date: September 3, 2025.

• Purpose (in their words): To uphold scientific integrity in public health and provide evidence-based vaccine recommendations after the CDC’s credibility was undermined.

Key Features:

• Develops its own immunization guidelines, informed by respected medical organizations.

• Ensures residents receive clear, transparent communication about vaccines grounded in science, not ideology.

• Acts as a regional safeguard.

🌎 The Governors Public Health Alliance (East/National)

• Founding States/Territories (15 total): Massachusetts (Maura Healey), New York (Kathy Hochul), Connecticut (Ned Lamont), Rhode Island (Dan McKee), Delaware (Matt Meyer), Maryland (Wes Moore), New Jersey (Phil Murphy), Illinois (JB Pritzker), Colorado (Jared Polis), North Carolina (Josh Stein), California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaiʻi (Josh Green), and Guam (Lou Leon Guerrero).

• Launch Date: October 15, 2025.

• Purpose (as they explain it): To create a nonpartisan coordinating hub for governors and public health leaders.

Key Features:

• Facilitates data sharing and cross-state collaboration on health threats.

• Provides emergency preparedness and response coordination.

• Interfaces with regional groups like the West Coast Health Alliance and the Northeast Public Health Collaborative.

• Serves as a liaison with the global health community, elevating vaccine policy and regulatory solutions.

🧩 How East and West Alliances Fit Together

• The West Coast Health Alliance is a regional bloc, focused specifically on vaccine integrity and science-based guidance for its residents.

• The Governors Public Health Alliance is a national coalition, bringing together East Coast, Midwest, and Western states to coordinate across borders.

• Together, they represent a state-led movement to safeguard public health and are not in full agreement with federal institutions as they were (mostly) in the past.

⚖️ Big Picture

• These alliances show a shift toward decentralized, state-driven public health leadership.

The trend is toward hybrid systems, where states and medical groups consult both CDC recommendations and independent expert panels.

• CIDRAP (Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy)

• American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

• American College of Physicians (ACP)

• American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)

• National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID)

• Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA)

• National Medical Association (NMA) (African American physician organization)

Look on your official state website to see if there are any announcements. There are states that made specific changes not mentioned here for example, Tennessee.

The list above is just a starting point. Start with your state's official website for information.

Remember, the purpose of today's blog is to make you aware of a shifting health care landscape beyond the usual talking points of the majority of the traditional media. Alternative media, when it comes to medical advice, can be okay or dangerous and many times convincing. Online advice when not reputable can be catastrophic. Understand what is changing in your state or not changing in your state. It is important to your future well being and that of your family. You can't form an opinion about this when you don't know what you don't know! My personal opinion: Science is Real. Have a conversation with your doctor.
