Tai Chi for Rehabilitation Part 1

At any age and regardless of your health status, you may suffer an illness or injury. The first thing to do is get professional treatment and assistance from your doctor. The next step may be physical therapy, If you practiced tai chi for a short time or a long time, you probably will not be able to perform your usual tai chi routine during your recovery. This can be very frustrating! Since tai chi is meditation in motion, it can feel like a two part loss. There may be a solution.


Stanford University has a tai chi inspired program to follow during your recovery. This requires some work on your part - you must discuss with the doctor and physical therapist your desire to engage in the exercises and striclty follow their advice and warnings. They may say no, this is not right for you. Listen to them. Then again, thery may know a therapist that uses a tai chi program or some version of tai chi that can decide if it is right for you. When it comes to an illness or injury, only your doctor and medical team can make an informed decision.
